There are 2 types of boldo, the Brazilian is a small shrub, and the boldo-do-chile, which is a larger tree.
Boldo is a medicinal plant, also known as boldo-do-chile, boldo-afragans or boldo-real, widely used as a home remedy for the liver. Its scientific name for boldo is Peumus boldus Molina and can be purchased at health food stores and drugstores.

The boldo is used to treat poor digestion, liver problems, gallstones, gout, constipation, cystitis, flatulence, headache and cold sweats. Boldo is also a good home remedy to cleanse the blood.
Boldo tea does not lose weight, but it can help to deflate the belly because it helps fight intestinal gas, making the belly smoother.
When used in excess it can be toxic and promote uterine contractions, favoring abortion, so in case of pregnancy or suspected pregnancy this tea should be avoided.

When not to be used
