How to use
The Aubagio tablet should be taken with a liquid, orally, once a day. This medicine can be administered with or without food and the tablet must in no way be broken, opened or chewed.
Who should not use
Aubagio is contraindicated in people who are hypersensitive to leflunomide or any of the components present in the formula, pregnant women, who intend to become pregnant or who are breast-feeding.
In addition, this medicine should also not be used by people with severe liver failure, nor is it recommended for people under 18, people with serious bone marrow problems, or with low number of red or white cells, or reduced number of platelets, in the blood.
It should also be used with caution in people over 65 or diabetics, because it contains sugar in its composition.
Possible side effects
The most common side effects that can occur with the use of Aubagio are diarrhea, nausea, decreased amount of hair and increased alanine aminotransferase, which is an enzyme present in the liver.
Although less common, adverse effects such as flu, sinusitis, viral gastroenteritis, decreased white blood cells, burning sensation, tingling and itchy skin for no apparent reason, increased blood pressure, pain in the upper belly can also occur, toothache, redness of the skin, musculoskeletal pain, excessive or prolonged bleeding during the menstrual period, increase in some liver enzymes, weight loss and post-traumatic pain.
