Prolia is indicated to treat osteoporosis in women after menopause, reducing the risk of fractures of the spine, hips and other bones. It can also be used to treat bone loss resulting from a reduction in the hormonal level of testosterone, caused by surgery, or by treatment, with drugs in patients with prostate cancer.

How to use Prolia consists of taking a 60 mg syringe, administered once every 6 months, as a single injection under the skin.

Side effects of Prolia (Denosumab)

The side effects of Prolia may be: pain when urinating, respiratory infection, pain and tingling in the lower limbs, constipation, allergic skin reaction, pain in the arm and leg, fever, vomiting, ear infection or low calcium levels.

Contraindications for Prolia (Denosumab)

Prolia is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any component of the formula, allergy to latex, kidney problems or cancer. It should also not be taken by individuals with low blood calcium levels.

Patients who have undergone chemotherapy or radiation therapy should also not use this medicine.
