Verapamil

Verapamil is the active substance in an antiarrhythmic medication known commercially as Dilacoron.

This medicine for oral and injectable use is indicated for the treatment of high blood pressure and chest pain. Its action consists of decreasing the concentration of calcium in the heart and decreasing the heart rate.

High pressure; chest pain; tachycardia.

Side effects of Verapamil

Transient low pressure; constipation.

Contraindications for Verapamil

Pregnancy risk C; lactating women; severe low blood pressure; sinus syndrome; Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome; Hipersensibility to any of the formula's components.

How to use Verapamil

Oral use

Adult and teenagers

Start with the administration of 80 to 120 mg, 3 times a day. The dose should be increased weekly or every week, depending on the patient's improvement. The daily dose limit for adults is 480 mg.

Injectable use

Adults

Administer 5 to 10 mg intravenously for about 2 minutes. If necessary, an additional 10 mg can be administered 30 minutes after the first application.
