The substance liraglutide, present in the drug Victoza, has been approved by ANVISA for commercialization in Brazil since 2010, with the purpose of being used specifically in the treatment of type 2 diabetes, and its use is not yet indicated for weight loss.
Liraglutide is a substance that stimulates the secretion of insulin by the beta cells of the pancreas and, therefore, is effective in glycemic control. Due to its mechanism, it was found that this medicine also led to weight reduction, resulting from increased satiety, having aroused great interest in people who do not suffer from this disease, but who understand that Victoza is a magic formula for the weight loss, neglecting the side effects of the medication.
Many people who wish to lose weight resort to pharmacological treatments, often prescribed indiscriminately or even without medical advice, which promise quick results, without taking into account the damage they can cause to health. But the weight loss that people seek to have a perfect body, does not happen from one moment to the next and, for it to occur in a healthy way, it is necessary to practice regular physical exercise, have a balanced diet and therapeutic monitoring.

Liraglutide, present in the medicine Victoza, was produced exclusively for the treatment of a disease, type 2 diabetes, and currently has no formal indication for use in weight loss, however, due to its effects as a slimming agent, there is chance of being used for this purpose in the future. Can Victoza be indicated for weight loss?
Although Victoza is not yet indicated by ANVISA to lose weight, many people already use it for this purpose.
Possibly, this medication may become part of the remedies that help in the treatment of obesity. However, further studies are needed to prove its safety, but it should be noted that regardless of the indication for liraglutide, the use of the weight loss medication should be the last alternative.
