Vitamin P was considered a set of bioflavonoids, because all substances with vitamin P activity are derived from flavones. These substances are a group of compounds that contribute to the maintenance of normal blood vessel conditions by decreasing the permeability of capillaries.
Osbioflavonoids, such as rutin, quercitin and hesperidin, are yellow, insoluble pigments, which are widely distributed in nature among vegetables, flowers and fruits such as orange, lemon and peppers.
The designation of vitamin P was abandoned because its study as a vitamin was not very demonstrative, and its nature, as a vitamin, was questionable.
