The method of use of Glibenclamide should be indicated by the doctor, according to the desired blood sugar level. However, the tablets should be taken whole, without being chewed and with water.

Side Effects of Glibenclamide

Side effects of Glibenclamide include hypoglycemia, temporary visual disturbances, nausea, vomiting, feeling of heaviness in the belly, abdominal pain, diarrhea, liver disease, elevated liver enzyme levels, yellowish skin color, decreased platelets, anemia, decreased red blood cells, decreased blood defense cells, itching and hives on the skin.

Contraindications for Glibenclamide

Glibenclamide is contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes or juvenile diabetes, with a history of ketoacidosis, with kidney or liver disease, with hypersensitivity to the components of the formula, in patients who are being treated for diabetic ketoacidosis, pre-coma or diabetic coma, in pregnant women, children, breastfeeding, and patients using bosentan-based drugs.
