Hydralazine is a medication known commercially as Apresoline or Nepresol.
It is an oral and injectable medicine, which acts as a vasodilator, being very effective in the treatment of individuals with high blood pressure.
Hydralazine Indications
Arterial hypertension; heart failure, pre-eclampsia; eclampsia.
Hydralazine Side Effects
Increased heart rate; Headache; palpitation.
Hydralazine contraindications
Pregnancy risk C; mitral valve disease; hypersensitivity to hydralizine.
How to use Hydralazine
Oral use
Adult
- Hypertension: Administer 40 mg daily, divided into 2 to 4 doses, for 4 days. Heart failure: Administer 40 to 150 mg per day, divided into 2 to 4 doses.
Adults can take a maximum of 300 mg of hydralazine daily.
Kid
- Hypertension: Administer 0.75 mg per kg of body weight per day, divided into 2 to 4 doses.
Children can take a maximum of 200 mg of hydralazine daily.
Injectable Use
Adult
- Inject from 5 to 40 mg, into the muscle or vein.
Kid
- Inject 1.7 to 3.5 mg per kg of body weight per day, divided into 4 to 6 doses, into the muscle or vein.
