The contraceptive method of temperature is a strategy to prevent pregnancy, where the woman determines the temperature of her body at rest, measuring her temperature every morning before getting up. For this method to work, the couple must avoid intercourse from the beginning of menstruation until at least 48 to 72 hours after the day on which the rise in basal body temperature occurred.
This method of contraception was widely used in the past, but it is only effective when the woman is very disciplined.
Normally, the usual body temperature decreases before the egg is released and slightly increases below 0.5ยบ C after its release. This method requires absence of intimate contact at certain stages of the month.
