Mesalazine

Mesalazine is the active substance in a gastrointestinal anti-inflammatory known commercially as Mesacol.

This medication for oral and rectal use is indicated for the treatment of colitis and for the prevention of Crohn's disease.

Indications for Mesalazine

Ulcerative colitis; proctitis; prevention of Crohn's disease.

The 250 mg Mesalazine box containing 10 suppositories costs approximately 17 reais and the 400 mg box with 30 tablets costs approximately 55 reais.

Skin rash; constipation; diarrhea; abdominal pain; rectal pain; gases; indigestion; vomiting; Headache; fever; joint pain; flu symptoms.

Pregnancy risk B; lactating women; Hipersensibility to any of the formula's components.

Oral use

Adults

Ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease: Administer 1 g of Mesalazine, 4 times a day. Treatment should last 8 weeks.

Rectal use

Adults

Inflammatory bowel disease: Administer 500 mg of Mesalazine, 2 or 3 times a day, for a period of 3 to 6 weeks.
