Sodium Oxacillin (Staficilin-N) is an FDA legalized antibiotic used to combat microorganisms resistant to penicillin.

Indications

Infections caused by penicillin G-resistant straphylococcus aureus, penumococci and streptococci.

Contraindications

People allergic to penicillin.

Side effects

Thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, leukocytosis, agranulocytosis, eosifilia, hemolytic anemia, aplastic anemia, transient interstitial nephritis, hyperactivity, nervousness, sleep disorders, mental confusion, hypertonia, dizziness, anorexia, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, gas, poor digestion, colitis pseudomembranous, vaginal, intestinal and oral candidiasis, headache, transaminase changes.

How to use

Adults: 2 to 4 g / day IM or IV every 4 or 6 hours.

Children: 50 to 100 mg / kg / day IM or IV every 6 hours.

Infants: 25 mg / kg / day IM or IV.
