Melagrião is an expectorant phytotherapic syrup that helps to fluidize secretions, facilitating their elimination, reduces throat irritation, common in colds and flu, and soothes coughs.
This syrup can be used in children from the age of two and in adults and can be purchased at pharmacies for a price of around 20 reais.
How to use
The dosage of Melagrião depends on the person's age:
- Adults and children over 12 years old: 15 mL every 3 hours; Children aged 7 to 12 years: 7.5 mL every 3 hours; Children aged 3 to 6 years: 5 mL every 3 hours. 2 to 3 years: 2.5 mL every 3 hours.
This medicine should not be used by babies and children under 2 years of age.
Who should not use
This medication should not be used by people who are hypersensitive to any of the components of the formula, with gastric or intestinal ulcers or with inflammatory kidney disease.
In addition, Melagrião is also not recommended for children under 2 years of age, pregnant women and women who are breastfeeding and diabetics, due to the presence of sugar in the composition.

Possible side effects
