The lack of magnesium can cause several diseases and these can be treated with supplementation of magnesium in the diet. Some symptoms of lack of magnesium are:
- Tremors, noise sensitivity, fatigue, depression, nervousness, tension, insomnia, PMS, hyperactivity, seizures, kidney stones, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, tachycardia, arrhythmias, heart failure, coronary spasms, angina, heart attacks, muscle spasms, menstrual cramps, gangrene, eclampsia, lead toxicity, alcoholism.
Ingestion of some medications can lead to magnesium deficiency, they are: cycloserine, furosemide, thiazides, hydrochlorothiazides, tetracyclines and oral contraceptives.
