Zerbaxa is a medicine that contains ceftolozane and tazobactam, two antibiotic substances that prevent the multiplication of bacteria and, therefore, can be used to treat various types of infections, such as:
- Complicated abdominal infections; Acute kidney infection; Complicated urinary tract infection.
Because it is able to eliminate very difficult bacteria, this remedy is usually used to fight infections by superbugs, resistant to other antibiotics, not being used as a first treatment option.
How to take
This antibiotic should be administered in the hospital directly into the vein, as directed by the doctor or following the general instructions:

Possible side effects
The use of this type of antibiotic can cause side effects such as insomnia, anxiety, headache, dizziness, marked decrease in blood pressure, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, vomiting, abdominal pain, redness of the skin, fever or a feeling of lack of air.
Who should not use
This antibiotic is contraindicated for people with hypersensitivity to cephalosporins, beta-lactams or any other component of the formula. In pregnancy and breastfeeding, it should only be used with guidance from the obstetrician.
