Benalet tablets have 5 mg diphenhydramine hydrochloride, 50 mg ammonium chloride and 10 mg sodium citrate in their composition and can be purchased in pharmacies and drugstores, in honey-lemon, raspberry or mint flavors, for a price of about 8.5 to 10.5 reais.

What is it for

Benalet is indicated as an auxiliary treatment in cases of inflammation of the upper airways, such as dry cough, throat irritation and pharyngitis, which are usually associated with flu and colds or smoke inhalation, for example.

How to use

In adults and children over 12 years of age, the recommended dose is 1 tablet, which should be allowed to dissolve slowly in the mouth when necessary, avoiding exceeding 2 tablets per hour. The maximum daily dose is 8 tablets a day.

Main side effects

Some of the most common side effects that may occur during treatment with Benalet are drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, sedation, decreased mucus secretion, constipation and urinary retention. In the elderly it can cause dizziness and excessive sedation due to the presence of antihistamines.

Who should not use

Benalet tablets should not be used in people who are hypersensitive to the components of the formula, during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.

In addition, it should also not be used in people undergoing treatments with tranquilizers, hypnotic sedatives, other anticholinergic drugs and / or monoaminoxidase inhibitors, in situations that require great mental attention, such as driving vehicles or operating heavy machinery.
