Imosec is indicated for the treatment of non-specific acute diarrhea without an infectious character, chronic spoliative diarrhea associated with inflammatory bowel diseases. In addition, Imosec can also be used to treat water and electrolyte loss in ileostomies and colostomies.
How to use Imosec
The way of using Imosec varies according to age, and it must be done as follows:
- Adults: take 2 to 4 mg of Imosec after each diarrheal bowel movement. Maximum dose of 16mg per day. Children: take 2 mg of Imosec after each diarrheal bowel movement up to a maximum of 6 mg for every 20 kg of body weight per day.
Side effects of Imosec
Side effects of Imosec include constipation, bloating, pain when urinating, rash, itching, shortness of breath, swelling of the face, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, intestinal gas, dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth.
Contraindications for Imosec
Imosec is contraindicated for use in children under 5 years of age, when fecal flow is desired to eliminate the infectious agent and in patients with known hypersensitivity to loperamide, during pregnancy and lactation.
