The brown discharge, although it may seem worrying, is usually not a sign of a serious problem and happens especially at the end of menstruation or when taking hormonal drugs for thyroid problems, for example.
However, this type of discharge can also indicate more serious situations, which need treatment, such as a gonorrhea infection or even pelvic inflammatory disease, it is always advisable to consult a gynecologist.
While waiting for the consultation, there are some natural treatments that can help relieve the discomfort caused by discharge, but which should not replace medical treatment.

1. Malaleuca essential oil
The malaleuca, also known as tea tree or tea tree is a medicinal plant with strong anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties that help to fight various types of infections in the vaginal and genital region, relieving symptoms faster.
To use the essential oil, pour between 5 to 10 drops in a small amount of a vegetable oil, such as sweet almond oil, evening primrose or coconut oil, for example, and then put the mixture in an external absorbent and use during the day to relieve symptoms.
2. Juniper tea
Since brown discharge can also often be caused by a gonorrhea infection, juniper tea can also be an excellent natural option, as this is a plant traditionally used to treat these types of cases, due to its antimicrobial properties and antiseptic.
Ingredients
- 1 liter of water; 1 tablespoon of chopped juniper berries.
Method of preparation
Place the water and juniper berries in a pan and bring to a boil. After boiling, leave the fire on for another 7 to 10 minutes. At the end of that time let it cool covered for 10 minutes. After that, the mixture should be strained and drunk between meals.
Juniper tea can also have a soporific effect, so some people may feel sleepy after drinking it.
3. Natural yogurt
Natural yogurt is one of the most commonly used home remedies for vaginal health and is usually recommended for fungal infections such as candidiasis. However, as it has natural probiotics it helps to regulate all vaginal flora, helping not only to treat excess fungi but also to prevent the development of harmful bacteria.
To use the yogurt, clean the vaginal area properly and then insert the yogurt inside with the help of a syringe. Finally, a good tip is to also put a tampon, to avoid dirtying your panties during the day.
Yogurt must be applied twice a day, always washing the area before applying. The ideal is that the yogurt is homemade and not from the supermarket, however, it should be at least without added sugars, since sugar helps in the development of bacteria. Check out the recipe for making homemade yogurt.
