Lyxumia is an injectable solution used to treat type 2 diabetes, in combination with oral antidiabetic remedies, helping to control glycemic indexes.
Lyxumia's active ingredient is lixisenatide, being produced by the Sanofi laboratory.
Lyxumia indications
Lyxumia is indicated for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who are unable to control blood glucose with the use of antidiabetic drugs, exercise and diet.
How to use Lyxumia
The use of Lyxumia consists of a daily injection, done as follows:
- Initial dose: 10 mcg once a day, for 14 days; Maintenance dose : fixed dose of 20 mcg once a day, from the 15th day;
Lyxumia should be injected 1 hour before the first meal of the day or 1 hour before dinner.
If the patient forgets to take a dose, he must take it 1 hour before the next meal.
Side effects of Lyxumia
The most common side effects of Lyxumia are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hypoglycemia and headaches.
Contraindications for Lyxumia
Lyxumia is contraindicated in individuals who are hypersensitive to lixisenatide or any of the components.
