Piroxicam is the active ingredient of an analgesic, anti-inflammatory and anti-pyretic remedy indicated for the treatment of diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, for example. Commercially Piroxicam is sold as Pirox, Feldene or Floxicam, for example.
This medicine can be found in the form of capsules, suppositories, soluble tablets, solution for intramuscular administration or gel for topical use.
What is it for
Piroxicam is indicated for the treatment of inflammatory conditions such as acute gout, postoperative pain, post-traumatic injury, rheumatoid arthritis, menstrual colic, arthrosis, arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis.
After its use, the pain and fever should decrease in about 1 hour, lasting 2 to 3 hours.

How to use
This medication should only be used as directed by a doctor, who may be in accordance with:
- Oral use: 1 tablet of 20 to 40 mg in a single daily dose, 1 tablet of 10 mg, twice a day. Rectal use: 20 mg daily before bedtime. Topical use: Apply 1 g of the product on the affected area, 3 to 4 times a day. Spread well until the product residues have disappeared.
Piroxicam can also be used as an injection that must be administered by a nurse and generally 20 to 40 mg / 2 ml are used daily in the upper quadrant of the buttock.
Side effects
The side effects of piroxicam are most often gastrointestinal symptoms such as stomatitis, anorexia, nausea, constipation, abdominal discomfort, flatulence, diarrhea, abdominal pain, indigestion, gastrointestinal bleeding, perforation and ulcer.

Contraindications
