Sotalol is an oral medicine, known commercially as Sotacor.
This drug is an antihypertensive, which acts by blocking the production of some substances that cause changes in the heart rhythm and blood circulation, such as renin, an enzyme released by the kidneys.
Indications for Sotalol
Cardiac arrhythmia; arterial hypertension; chest pains.
Side effects of Sotalol
Unusual tiredness or weakness; decreased heart rate; nausea; vomiting; irregular heartbeat; chest pain; pressure fall; palpitation; dizziness; difficulty breathing.

How to use Sotalol
Oral use
Adults
- Chest pain and hypertension: Start treatment with 80 mg of Sotalol, twice a day. If necessary, adjust the dose every 2 weeks, adding 80 mg to each of the two doses.
Dose limit for adults: 480 mg per day.
Take the medicine 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal. It is always recommended to take the medicine at the same time.
