- How to avoid accidents while he still doesn't sit
The baby usually starts trying to sit at around 4 months, but can only sit unsupported, stopped and alone when he is about 6 months old.
However, through exercises and strategies that parents can do with the baby, which strengthen the back and belly muscles, parents can help the baby to sit up faster.
Play to help baby sit alone
Some games that can help the baby to sit alone are:
1. Rock the baby
With the baby sitting on your lap, facing forward, you should rock him back and forth, holding him tight. This allows the baby to exercise and strengthen the back muscles that are essential for keeping the baby sitting without support.
2. Sit the baby with several pillows
Placing the baby in a sitting position with several pillows around it makes the baby learn to sit.
3. Place a toy on the bottom of the crib
When the baby is standing in the crib, it is possible to place a toy, preferably, that he likes a lot, in the bottom of the cradle so that he has to sit down to be able to pick it up.
4. Pull the baby to a sitting position
With the baby lying on his back, grab his hands and pull him until he sits. After sitting for about 10 seconds, lie down and repeat. This exercise helps to strengthen the baby's belly and back muscles.
After the baby is able to sit without support, it is important to leave him sitting on the floor, on a rug or pillow, and remove any object from which he may be injured or swallowed.
Watch the following video to see how the baby develops at each stage and how to help him sit alone:

At this stage, the baby still does not have much strength in the trunk and therefore he may fall forward, backward and sideways, and may hit his head or be injured and therefore he should not be left alone.
A good strategy is to buy a pool float that is suitable for the size of the baby to put around your waist. Thus, if it becomes unbalanced, the buoy will cushion the fall. However, it cannot replace the presence of the parents because it does not protect the child's head.
You should be careful with the edges of the furniture because they can cause cuts. There are some fittings that can be purchased at children's stores but pillows can also be useful.
