Kanakion is a medicine for injectable use that has Phytomenadione (vitamin k1) as its active ingredient.
This medication is used to prevent and treat various forms of bleeding, its effect being observed within 3 to 5 hours after its use.
Kanakion indications
Hemorrhage in newborn (prevention and treatment); overdose of anticoagulants.
Side Effects of Kanakion
Decreased liver function; anaphylactic shock.
Contraindications to Kanakion
Pregnant or lactating women.
How to use Kanakion
Injectable use
Adults
- Administer 10 to 20 mg intravenously (for at least 30 seconds); assess the prothrombin level 3 hours later and, if necessary, the dose can be repeated. Do not exceed 50 mg of phytomenadione intravenously in 24 hours.
Seniors
- Use the same procedure as for adult use, but with the lowest recommended dose (10 mg).
Children under 1 year of age
- Administer pediatric Kanakion mm (2mg / 0.2 ml).
