Urinary incontinence is characterized by the involuntary loss of small, medium or large amounts of urine. According to scientific research the cure of urinary incontinence is directly related to the muscle tone of the perineum and this can be achieved through the practice of Kegel exercises and physical therapy.
According to a scientific publication, approximately 70% of women submitted to physical therapy treatment for urinary incontinence who were discharged from the service and who were advised to carry out the exercises at home, after one year were practically cured, reporting only the loss of small drops of urine when making efforts.
This proves that not all women with urinary incontinence should be referred directly to surgery, with physiotherapy being a science capable of promoting a cure in these cases.
