Lumi is a low-dose birth control pill, which combines two female hormones, ethinyl estradiol and drospirenone, used to prevent pregnancy and relieve fluid retention, swelling, weight gain, acne and excess oil in skin and hair.
Lumi is produced by the Libbs FarmacĂȘutica laboratory and can be purchased in conventional pharmacies, in cartons of 24 tablets, for a price between 27 and 35 reais.
What is it for
Lumi is indicated to prevent pregnancy and reduce symptoms related to fluid retention, increased abdomen volume, bloating or weight gain. It is also used to treat acne and excess oil on the skin and hair.
How to use
The way to use Lumi consists of taking one tablet a day, at approximately the same time, with the help of a little liquid, if necessary.
All tablets should be taken until the pack is finished and then an interval of 4 days without taking tablets should be taken. During this period, approximately 2 to 3 days after taking the last Lumi tablet, bleeding similar to menstrual bleeding should occur. After the 4-day break, the woman should start a new pack on the 5th day, even if there is still bleeding.
What to do if you forget to take Lumi
When forgetting is less than 12 hours from the usual time, take the forgotten tablet and take the next tablet at the usual time. In these cases, contraceptive protection is maintained.

When more than 1 tablet from the same pack is forgotten, consult a doctor.
When vomiting or severe diarrhea occurs 3 to 4 hours after taking the tablet, it is recommended to use another contraceptive method for the next 7 days.
Possible side effects
Side effects of Lumi include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, weight gain or loss, headache, depression, mood swings, hypersensitivity, breast pain, fluid retention, decreased or increased libido, vaginal discharge or breast.
Who should not use
This contraceptive should not be used in people with a current or previous history of a blood clot in a leg, lung or other parts of the body, heart attack or stroke caused by a blood clot or a ruptured blood vessel in the brain, diseases which may be a sign of a future heart attack or stroke.
In addition, it should also not be used in people with a history of migraine accompanied by focal neurological symptoms, such as visual symptoms, difficulty speaking, weakness or numbness in any part of the body, diabetes mellitus with blood vessel damage, current or previous history liver disease, cancer that can develop under the influence of sex hormones, kidney malfunction, presence or history of liver tumor and unexplained vaginal bleeding.
Iumi is also contraindicated in women who are pregnant or suspect they may be pregnant and people who are hypersensitive to any of the components.
