Amikacin sulfate is an antibiotic sold commercially under the name Novamin that can be used in several types of infections.
Indications
Respiratory, urinary, skin and tissue infections, bone and caused by gram-negative bacteria resistant to gentamicin and gram-positive bacilli.
Contraindications
People with allergy to aminoglycosides.
Adverse effects
Temporary or permanent hearing changes, dizziness, vertigo, lack of muscle strength, headache, paresthesia, tremor, fever, redness, nausea, vomiting, low blood pressure, joint pain, eosinophilia.
How to use
From 15 to 20 mg / kg / day divided into 2 or 3 administrations. In premature babies: 10 mg / kg every 12 hours.
