Carboxitherapy is a good treatment to remove dark circles, through small injections of medicinal carbon dioxide under the skin, with a very fine needle. This treatment is indicated to lighten the skin around the eyes and to combat the swollen dark circles, characterized by small 'bags' under the eyes.
The price of each session of carboxitherapy for dark circles varies from 50 to 200 reais, depending on the clinic where the treatment will be performed.
How Carboxitherapy Works
Carboxitherapy consists of applying small injections of carbon dioxide that penetrate the skin, which work by improving the blood circulation of the region around the eyes and increase the production of collagen, which makes the skin around the eyes firmer and clearer.
Side effects
Side effects are brief and transient and include pain during the procedure and for a few minutes thereafter. It is normal for the area to become sensitive and slightly swollen within the first hour after treatment.
Carboxytherapy for dark circles causes some discomfort, but it is bearable, and the use of anesthetic creams before each application helps to control pain. The discomfort is temporary and lasts only a few minutes, but placing cold compresses immediately afterwards and doing a facial lymphatic drainage also help to improve the results bringing more comfort and satisfaction.
How many sessions to do
This treatment really works, but for best results it is recommended to do at least 5 sessions at 1 week intervals. However, depending on the degree of darkness and depth of dark circles, it may be necessary to do between 8 to 10 sessions.
You can measure the success of the treatment by taking pictures with the same camera, position, distance and lighting before and after the final treatment.
The results of the treatment with carboxitherapy for dark circles lasts an average of 6 months and after this period the treatment must be repeated again.

Why dark circles appear
Dark circles are dark marks in the shape of circles around the eyes that arise due to mainly genetic factors, after an inflammation in the skin of the face due to some allergy, swelling around the eyes, excess blood vessels in that region, but the flaccidity of the skin due to aging also contributes a lot to its appearance or worsening.
Dark circles can be brown, reddish or purple, depending basically on genetic factors. Even children can be affected, and it usually gets worse with age. Some situations that aggravate dark circles are stress, rubbing the skin around the eyes and the use of eye drops to control glaucoma, which also make dark circles darker.
