How to take
Generally, at the beginning of treatment, low doses of 15 mg per 1 kg of weight per day are recommended, which can be gradually increased between 5 to 10 mg per day. The tablets should be swallowed whole, without breaking or chewing, together with a glass of water.
Doses should always be indicated and adjusted by the doctor, until an optimal dose is reached for disease control, which depends on the individual response of each patient to treatment.
Side effects
Some of the side effects of Diplexil may include decreased or increased appetite, swelling in the legs, hands or feet, tremors, headache, confusion, hair loss, muscle weakness, mood swings, depression, aggressiveness or the appearance of rock spots on the skin.
Contraindications
Diplexil is contraindicated for patients with liver disease, chronic acute hepatitis, mitochondrial disease such as Alpers-Huttenlocher syndrome and for patients with allergy to Sodium Valproate or any of the components of the formula.
