Admission and dismissal exams are exams that must be requested by the company to assess the general health condition and check if the person is able to perform a certain function or if he / she acquired any condition due to work. These exams are performed by a doctor specialized in occupational medicine.
These exams are provided by law and the costs are the responsibility of the employer, as well as scheduling the exams. If they are not carried out, the company is subject to the payment of a fine.
In addition to admission and dismissal exams, periodic exams must be performed to assess the person's health condition during the period worked, with the possibility of correcting situations that may have arisen during that period. Periodic examinations must be carried out during the work period, when there is a change of function and when the employee returns to work, due to vacation or leave.
What are worth for
Admission and dismissal examinations must be carried out before admission and before termination of employment so that both the employee and the employer are safe.
Admission exam
The admission exam must be requested by the company before hiring or signing the work card and aims to check the general health conditions of the worker and to verify if he / she is able to perform certain activities. Thus, the doctor must perform the following procedures:
- Interview, in which family history of occupational diseases and conditions that the person has been exposed to in previous jobs is evaluated; Blood pressure measurement; Heart rate check; Posture assessment; Psychological assessment; Complementary exams, which vary according to the activity that will be exercised, such as vision, hearing, strength and physical exams.
It is illegal to perform HIV, sterility and pregnancy tests in the admission exam, as well as in the dismissal exam, as the performance of these exams is considered discriminatory practice and should not be used as a criterion to admit or dismiss a person.
After carrying out these tests, the doctor issues a Medical Certificate of Functional Capacity, which contains information about the employee and the results of the tests, indicating whether the person is able or not to perform the activities related to employment. This certificate must be filed by the company along with the employee's other documents.
Termination exam
The dismissal examination must be carried out prior to the employee's dismissal in order to check if any work-related conditions have arisen and thus determine whether the person is able to be fired.
The dismissal exams are the same as the admission exams and, after the exam, the doctor issues the Occupational Health Certificate (ASO), which contains all the data of the worker, position held in the company and the worker's health status after carrying out activities in the company. Thus, it is possible to check if there was a disease or hearing impairment, for example, due to the position held. Check out some diseases that can arise at work.
If any work-related condition is verified, the ASO states that the person is unfit for dismissal, and must remain in the company until the condition is resolved and a new dismissal exam is carried out.
The dismissal examination must be carried out when the last periodic medical examination was carried out more than 90 or 135 days ago, depending on the degree of risk of the activity performed. This examination, however, is not mandatory in cases of dismissal for just cause, leaving the examination to the examination or not.
