An excellent home remedy to relieve the burning sensation of sunburn is to apply a homemade gel made with honey, aloe and lavender essential oil, as they help to hydrate the skin and, thus, accelerate the skin recovery process, relieving the symptoms of burn.
Another option to treat sunburn is to make compresses with essential oils, as they help to refresh the skin and relieve symptoms.
Honey, aloe and lavender gel
This gel is great for relieving the symptoms of sunburn, as honey is able to hydrate the skin, aloe vera helps in healing, and lavender can accelerate skin recovery, favoring the formation of a new and healthy skin.
Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons of honey; 2 teaspoons of aloe vera gel; 2 drops of lavender essential oil.
Method of preparation
Open a leaf of aloe and cut it in half, in the direction of the length of the leaf and then, remove two spoons of the gel that is present inside the leaf.
Then place the honey, aloe vera gel and lavender drops in a container and mix well until it becomes a uniform cream.
This homemade gel can be applied daily on sunburned regions until complete skin recovery. To use it just moisten the region with cold water and then apply a thin layer on the skin, leaving it to act for 20 minutes. To remove this gel it is advisable to use only cold water in abundance.
Essential oil compresses
An excellent homemade solution for sunburn is to take a cold water bath with essential oils, such as chamomile and lavender essential oil, as they help to refresh the skin.
Ingredients
- 20 drops of chamomile essential oil; 20 drops of lavender essential oil.
Method of preparation
Just mix the above mentioned ingredients in a bucket with 5 liters of water and mix well. Pour this water over the whole body after bathing and let the skin dry naturally.
Chamomile, a medicinal plant from the Asteraceae family , has anti-inflammatory and calming properties, which relieve the pain caused by sunburn and reduce skin irritation.
