Ambroxol, commercially known as Mucosolvan, Anabron, Broncoflux, Fluxol or Mucolin, is a medicine with an expectorant effect that acts by decreasing the amount of secretions present in the respiratory system, decreasing nasal congestion and facilitating breathing.
This medication can be used through oral use or inhalation, being effective in the treatment of bronchitis and asthma.
Indications of Ambroxol
Chronic bronchitis; acute bronchitis; asthmatic bronchitis; tracheobronchitis; phlegm in the chest; throat irritation.
Side effects of Ambroxol
Diarrhea; nausea; vomiting; difficulty breathing during inhalation.
Contraindications for Ambroxol
Avoid during the first 3 months of pregnancy.
How to use Ambroxol
Oral use
Adults
- Use 30 mg of ambroxol 3 times a day.
Children
- Under 2 years of age: 7.5 mg of ambroxol, twice a day; From 2 to 5 years of age: 7.5 mg of ambroxol, 3 times a day; Over 5 years: 15 mg of ambroxol, 3 times a day.
Inhalation use
Adults
- Inhale 15 to 22.5 mg of ambroxol, twice a day;
Children
- Under 2 years of age: Inhale 7.5 mg of ambroxol twice a day; From 2 to 5 years old: Inhale 7.5 mg of ambroxol, 3 times a day; Over 5 years: Inhale 15 mg of ambroxol 3 times a day.
