This medication is a bronchodilator, antiasthmatic for oral and injectable use, which acts on the muscles of the bronchi stimulating the respiratory flow. Indications
The use of Aminophylline is indicated in the case of bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or pulmonary emphysema.
How to use
Aminophylline can be used orally or by injection. For adults, 600 to 1600 mg per day is recommended, divided into 3 or 4 doses and for children over 6 months of age, 12 mg per kg of body weight per day, divided into 3 or 4 doses.
In the case of injectable use, 240 to 480 mg is recommended, 1 or 2 times a day, intravenously for 5 to 10 minutes for adults.
Side effects
Some side effects of using the drug include diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, tremor, irritability, restlessness and excessive urination.
Contraindications
Aminophylline is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding and children under 6 months of age.
