Cytarabine

Cytarabine is the active substance in an antineoplastic medication known commercially as Aracytin.

This injectable drug is indicated for the treatment of individuals with cancer, its action prevents the proliferation of cancer and tumor cells.

Indications of Cytarabine

Lymphocytic leukemia; acute myelocytic leukemia; chronic myelocytic leukemia; non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Side Effects of Cytarabine

Fever; inflammation and obstruction of the vein; nausea; vomiting; diarrhea; lack of appetite; anal ulceration; megaloblastosis; rashes on the skin; redness; itch.

Contraindications for Cytarabine

Pregnancy risk D; lactating women; chicken pox (chickenpox); bone marrow depression; herpes; Hipersensibility to any of the formula's components.

How to use Cytarabine

Injectable use

Adult

• Acute non-lymphocytic leukemia: Induction with 100 mg per meter of body height per day, on days 1 to 7 or 100 mg per meter of body height every 12 hours on days 1 to 7. Meningeal leukemia: Induction via intrathecal 5 to 75 mg per meter of body height, once a day for 4 days, or once every 4 days.
