Fludarabine is an injectable and oral medicine known commercially as Fludara.
This medicine is an antineoplastic, used to destroy cancer cells and prevent the growth of tumors.
Indications for Fludarabine
Chronic lymphocytic leukemia; non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Side Effects of Fludarabine
Anemia; chest pain; swelling; body pain; pneumonia; allergic pneumonitis; decreased platelets; pulmonary hemorrhage; gastrointestinal bleeding.
Contraindications for Fludarabine
Pregnancy risk D; lactating women; individuals with renal failure.
How to use Fludarabine
Oral use
Adults
- Chronic lymphocytic leukemia: Administer 40 mg, once a day, for 5 consecutive days. Each 5-day treatment cycle should start every 28 days.
Caution: The tablets must be administered until complete or partial remission of the cancer cells is achieved. This result can be seen around the 6th medication cycle.
Injectable use
Adults
- Chronic lymphocytic leukemia or non-Hodgkin's lymphoma: Administer 25 mg once a day, for 5 consecutive days. Each 5-day cycle should start every 28 days.
