Sunset syndrome leads patients with neurological and degenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, to worsen their symptoms in the late afternoon and during the night, for no apparent reason.
During this period, it is common for there to be more episodes of delusions, mental confusion and difficulty sleeping, especially if the person with the disease is an elderly person.
To date, it is not known exactly what causes this aggravation, being recommended only to the caregivers of these patients, for safety measures, greater attention to them.
