Saw palmetto is a medicinal plant that can be used as a home remedy for impotence, urine problems and enlarged prostate. The medicinal properties of the plant come from its small bluish-black berries similar to blackberries.
Also known as sabal, it is a small palm tree with spiny and serrated stems, which is up to 4 meters high, being common in Florida in the United States. The saw palmetto's scientific name is Serenoa repens and the extract of its fruits can be purchased in the form of tea powder, capsules or lotion.

Saw palmetto is used to treat symptoms of prostate hyperplasia, benign prostate tumor, prostatitis, urinary problems, cystitis, hair loss, premature ejaculation, sexual impotence, eczema, cough and asthma.
