The active ingredient in Atrovent is ipatropium bromide and is produced by the Boehringer laboratory, however, it can also be purchased in conventional pharmacies with other trade names such as Ares, Duovent, Spiriva Respimat or Asmaliv, for example.

The price of Atrovent is approximately 20 reais, however, ipratropium bromide can also be purchased for about 2 reais, in the form of a generic.

How to use
How Atrovent is used varies according to age:
- Adults, including the elderly, and adolescents over 12 years: 2.0 ml, 3 to 4 times a day. Children aged 6 to 12 years: must be adapted at the discretion of the pediatrician, and the recommended dose is 1.0 ml, 3 to 4 times a day. Children under 6 years: must be indicated by the pediatrician, but the recommended dose is 0.4 - 1.0 ml, 3 to 4 times a day.
In cases of acute crisis, the doses of the medication should be increased according to the doctor's indication.
Possible side effects
The main side effects of this medication include headache, nausea and dry mouth.
In addition, redness of the skin, itching, swelling of the tongue, lips and face, hives, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, increased heart rate or vision problems may also appear.
Who should not use
Atrovent is contraindicated in patients who have acute infectious rhinitis and, also in cases of known hypersensitivity to the drug's substances. In addition, it should not be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
