Carboxitherapy is a great aesthetic treatment to eliminate localized fat because it has been scientifically proven to be effective in reducing the fat fold. This treatment consists of applying some injections of carbon dioxide in the belly, thighs, arms, flanks, buttocks and lateral part of the back, as needed.
However, this treatment is not indicated for weight loss because it has an effect on only one localized area, and therefore it is more suitable for people who are within or very close to the ideal weight, with a body mass index of up to 23. These people can appear thin, but having a fat 'tire' in the belly, flanks, triceps and bra line, for example. Thus, carboxitherapy is a great strategy to improve the body contour of apparently thin people but with accumulated fat volume in certain regions of the body. How Carboxitherapy Works
In carboxytherapy, the medicinal carbon dioxide introduced into the skin and adipose tissue causes a small lesion in the cells that store fat, the adipocytes, promoting the exit of this fat that is available to be spent as an energy source.
Carboxitherapy also leads to an increase in blood flow and microcirculation, which increases local oxygenation, contributing to the elimination of toxins and even increasing collagen fibers, which makes the skin firmer. Thus, there is a reduction of localized fat and improvement of the skin's firmness in this region, achieving great results.
Results of carboxitherapy for localized fat
The results of carboxitherapy for localized fat can be seen, on average, after the 3rd treatment session. To enhance and maintain these results, it is recommended to do a dietary reeducation and practice some type of exercise until 48 hours after each carboxitherapy session, to really burn the fat that is available, avoiding its accumulation in another region of the body. Lymphatic drainage sessions in the same period also contribute to a good result. Some precautions such as increasing water intake, using creams that promote increased circulation and burning fat are also indicated, as well as taking teas with a draining effect.
The sessions can be held 1 or 2 times a week, lasting from 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on the size of the area to be treated.
Can the person put on weight again?
What has been proven in scientific studies is that carboxytherapy contributes to the reduction of localized fat and reduction of measures, however, if the person continues to consume many calories (through excess fat and sugar) there will be a new deposition of fat. This does not mean that the treatment was unsuccessful, but that the eliminated fat was replaced by inadequate nutrition.
Weight and body mass index do not change with carboxytherapy, but the fat fold decreases, which can be proven through tests such as ultrasound.
In order for the results of carboxitherapy to be maintained for a lifetime it is important to change the lifestyle, because poor diet and physical inactivity are responsible for the accumulation of fat, and if this is not changed, the body will continue to accumulate fat. Thus, in order to perpetuate the results achieved with the treatment, one must maintain a healthy diet and exercise regularly, so that all the calories ingested can be expended daily.
