How to use
Ceftriaxone is applied via an injection into the muscle or vein and the amount of medicine depends on the type and severity of the infection and the patient's weight. Like this:
- Adults and children over 12 years old or who weigh more than 50 kg : generally, the recommended dose is 1 to 2 g once a day. In more severe cases, the dose can be increased to 4g, once a day; Newborns less than 14 days old: the recommended dose is about 20 to 50 mg for each kg of body weight per day, this dose should not be exceeded; Children aged 15 days to 12 years weighing less than 50 kg : the recommended dose is 20 to 80 mg for each kg of weight per day.

Possible side effects
The most common side effects that may occur during treatment with ceftriaxone are eosinophilia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, diarrhea, soft stools, increased liver enzymes and skin rash.
