Clofazimine is an antibacterial medication, for oral use that acts against the bacterium Mycobacterium leprae, which causes leprosy.
Indications of Clofazimine
Leprosy (leprosy).
Side Effects of Clofazimine
Alteration of skin pigmentation; increased liver size; enteritis; pimples; pain in the stomach area; Headache; vascular pain; dry mouth; itch; constipation; changes in taste; anemia; gastrointestinal intolerance; bowel obstruction; thromboembolism; redness of the skin; vomiting; yellowish color on the skin or eyes; depression; diarrhea; abdominal pain; fatigue; lack of appetite; hepatitis; nausea; weight loss; dryness of the skin; gastrointestinal bleeding; dizziness.
Contraindications for Clofazimine
Pregnancy Risk C; lactating women.
How to use Clofazimine
Oral use
Adults
- Administer 100 to 200 mg of Clofazimine daily for up to 3 months.
Decrease the dose to 100 mg daily as soon as possible. Doses greater than 200 mg per day are not recommended.
