Some precautions to take in case of scarlet fever, which is a contagious disease caused by a bacterium, more frequent in children and adolescents up to the age of 15, which can also occur in adults, can be:
- Wash the child's clothes with hot water and soap separated from the rest of the individuals; Disinfect the child's personal objects with a gauze or cotton pad soaked in alcohol; Bathe the child with warm water, close to body temperature, and use a liquid hydrating soap, without sponge and without rubbing the skin; Dry the child's skin very well and then apply a good quality moisturizer or oil all over the body, when the skin starts to peel; Opt for a liquid and pasty food, as porridges, cooked fruits, cereals, soups, purees and water because of the sore throat.
Scarlet fever causes symptoms such as high fever, sore throat and red skin rashes that can cause itching. Treatment is usually done with antibiotics, such as penicillin.
These precautions in case of scarlet fever must be maintained throughout the treatment for scarlet fever.
