The active ingredient Cyclobenzaprine Hydrochloride can be found in pharmacies under the names Miosan, Cizax, Mirtax and Musculare, reducing spasms and pain. Miosan can be found in tablets of 5 or 10 mg. In addition, this active ingredient can also be combined with caffeine, being found under the trade name Miosan CAF.

How to take

This medicine is used in tablets and for adults and children from 15 years old in the case of skeletal muscle spasm, 10 mg is recommended, 3 or 4 times a day and in the case of fibromyalgia from 5 to 40 mg, at bedtime.

The maximum dose is 60 mg of cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride.

Side effects

The most common side effects of Miosan include dry mouth, drowsiness, dizziness and headache. The rarest reactions were: tiredness, headache, mental confusion, irritability, nervousness, abdominal pain, reflux, constipation, nausea, feeling soft in the body, blurred vision and discomfort in the throat.

Contraindications

This medicine is contraindicated in pregnancy, liver malfunction, hyperthyroidism, heart problems such as congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, heart block or conduction disorders, acute recovery phase after myocardial infarction and patients receiving or using IMAO drugs because they may die or have seizures.

It is also not recommended for children and adolescents under 15 years of age and the elderly, and should not be used by people using any of the following medications: serotonin reuptake inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, buspirone, meperidine, tramadol, medications monoamine oxidase, bupropion and verapamil inhibitors.
