The dissociated diet was created based on the principle that foods rich in protein, such as meat and eggs, should not be combined in the same meal with foods from the carbohydrate group, such as pasta or bread.
This is because, when combining these food groups in a meal, the body ends up producing a lot of acid during digestion, which can result in various gastric problems, in addition to poor digestion. For this reason, this diet also advocates that less foods should be eaten that promote acidity, and alkaline foods, such as vegetables, should be preferred.
Since it is not possible to completely separate proteins from carbohydrates, because a large part of the food contains both nutrients, the diet does not look for extremes, but only to separate foods very high in protein from those very high in carbohydrates, in order to facilitate the digestion, promote well-being and even help you reach your ideal weight.

The diet in the dissociated diet must not combine carbohydrates with proteins in the same meal and, therefore, the permitted combinations are:
- Foods in the carbohydrate group with a neutral group food; Protein group foods with a neutral group food.

Dissociated diet rules
In addition to the basic rules mentioned above, this diet also has other important rules, which include:
- Consume more natural foods, such as fresh vegetables, seasonal fruit and natural products, avoiding processed and industrialized products; Use herbs and spices daily, instead of salt and fat; Avoid foods with sugar, pre-cooked, preserves and flours; Consume a small amount of food such as red meats, margarine, legumes, nuts, coffee, cocoa, black tea, alcoholic beverages; Drink 2 liters of water a day before and between meals.
In addition, for a successful diet, exercise should be performed at least 3 times a week to maintain ideal weight and good cardiovascular health.
