Clarithromycin is an antibacterial, administered orally or intravenously. It can be found commercially under the names Klaricid, Clamicin, Claritab or helicocid.
Indications
Tonsillitis; pharyngitis; infection of the upper and lower airways; infection of the skin and soft tissues; orofacial infection (by anaerobic and Gram positive cocci); pneumonia; sinusitis.
Side effects
Oral: diarrhea; stomach ache; Headache; indigestion; nausea; altered taste.
Injectable use: inflammation; sensitivity; phlebitis; change in taste; Headache; transient elevation of liver enzymes.
Contraindications
Allergy to macrolide antibiotic such as erythromycin; linconicin; clindamycin. Pregnancy risk C; breast-feeding
