Enablex is a medicine that acts on the bladder by increasing its storage capacity and decreasing the urinary frequency. Its active ingredient is darifenacin hydrobromide, being marketed by the Novartis laboratory.

What is it for

Enablex is indicated for the treatment of overactive bladder that manifests symptoms such as urgency to urinate, sudden urge to pee, frequent urge to urinate and not being able to control urine properly, wetting underwear.

How to take

Use only for adults:

  • Take 1 7.5 mg tablet, once a day. After 2 weeks, increase the dose to 15 mg, once a day, or as directed by a doctor.

The tablets should be taken with water at any time of the day, but preferably always at the same time as the person chooses. The tablets should be swallowed whole, with or without food.

The maximum daily dose is 15mg.

Possible side effects

Usually this medication is well tolerated, but symptoms such as dry mouth and constipation, headache, pain in the stomach, nausea, dry eyes, dry nose can appear. Talk to your doctor immediately if you experience symptoms such as itchy body, difficulty breathing or swallowing, dizziness or swelling of your lips, tongue or throat.

When not to be used

Pregnancy risk C; breast-feeding; urinary retention; gastric retention; uncontrolled closed-angle glaucoma, and also in case of allergy to any of the components of the formula.

This medicine should be used with caution in people with liver problems, if there is difficulty in eliminating the urine, such as very weak urine stream, severe constipation.
