Ifosfamide is an injectable medicine known commercially as Holoxane.
This is a chemotherapy drug used to eliminate malignant tumors in the body, such as breast, endometrial and ovarian cancer.
Ifosfamide is considered a very strong medicine, which must be combined with antacid medicines, to prevent the development of other diseases, such as hemorrhagic cystitis.
Indications of Ifosfamide
Endometrial cancer; breast cancer; Ovary cancer; pancreatic cancer; lung cancer; kidney cancer; testicular cancer.
Side effects of Ifosfamide
Increased stomach acid; alteration of sperm production; blood changes; chills; cystitis; convulsion; yellowish color on the skin and eyes; disorientation and mental confusion; marked decrease in menstrual flow; inflammation of the throat; stomach pain; hemorrhages; inflammation of the mouth or lips; nausea; vomiting, total hair loss; blood in the urine; cough.
Ifosfamide contraindications
Pregnancy risk D; lactating women; individuals with brain metastasis; individuals with obstruction of the urinary tract.
Directions for use of Ifosfamide
Injectable use
Adults
- Administer 50 to 60 mg of Ifosfamide per kg of body weight daily, for 5 consecutive days.
