Cholestyramine is a cholesterol-lowering drug known commercially as Questran Light.
This medicine for oral use, acts on the intestine transforming cholesterol into bile acids, thus decreasing the concentration of fat in the blood.
Indications of cholestyramine
High cholesterol; itching (associated with biliary absorption); diarrhea (due to malabsorption of bile acids).

Side effects of cholestyramine

How to use Colestyramine
Oral use
Adults
- High cholesterol: Dilute 4g of cholestyramine in 60 to 90 ml of water or other non-alcoholic and gaseous liquid, morning and night. After 1 or 2 weeks, dilute 8 g of the drug in 120 to 180 ml of water, before meals and at bedtime. The maximum dose is 24g of the drug per day.
