Rodent-borne diseases can be very serious and lead to death. Most of them are caused by mice, such as:
- Leptospirosis Bubonic Plague Murine Typhus Rat Bite Fever Trichinosis Rabies Salmonellosis Scabies Mycoses Hantavirus
These animals usually multiply in places where there are poor hygiene habits, which facilitates the proliferation of bacteria, increasing the risk of infection in humans.
Any of the infections mentioned occurs through direct or indirect contact between humans and the feces and urine of these animals. Floods greatly increase the risk of contagion, but it is possible to protect yourself from flooding diseases.
To avoid these diseases it is necessary to avoid contact with rats and other rodents and, when handling objects that have been in contact with possibly contaminated water, it is recommended to wear gloves and boots and to disinfect food.
